The Untied States of a Mirror

The Untied States of a Mirror is a trilogy of absurdist, psychedelic, comedic plays that incorporate live music. The stories examine the neo liberal fishbowl of New York through a bizarre dystopian lens. Each play can be done on its own or in rep with the others. The first play satirizes a wealthy middle aged couple in Manhattan, the second their thirty something children in Brooklyn, and the third brings them all together.

Pigeon Spikes

Ernest and Clare are a wealthy Upper East Side couple. Clare is fascinated with public art installation artist, Ashe Hatori Hummel, and encourages her husband to become the key investor in his new piece which involves capturing thousands of pigeons and painting them different vivid colors and releasing him in the city. Ernest grows suspicious when Clare is spending so much time at the artist's house, little does he know he is about to become part of the art installment too.

Pigeon Spikes made its debut at Dixon Place. Featuring live music by a full Jazz band.

Sleepy Eyed Kids

Becca, in the midst of a college hiatus, finds herself in the company of her sister, Haley, in hyper gentrified Brooklyn. Hipsters have attempted to appropriate Native American skin walking and have connected the practice with an environmentalist cult. Upon learning of Haley and her boyfriend's involvement in gatherings held at an abandoned aquarium, Becca's life takes a surreal turn. "Sleepy Eyed Kids'' serves as the second installment in The Untied States of a Mirror trilogy. It delves into the performative nature of activism and the falsity of modern movements in a consumer culture bubble.

Sleep Eyed Kids made its debut at Dixon Place. Featuring live music by Guacamole Racoon.

The Festival

"The Festival'' centers on bringing the characters of Sleepy Eyed Kids and Pigeon Spikes together. After Mike dies live on social media, his father Ernest must perform in his place in his mediocre indie band at the government sponsored month-long music festival. If patrons of the festival don’t meet their social media post quota they are asked to leave. Meanwhile, a revolutionary movement that attempts to unite New York under the flag of the great sea turtle, is anonymously run by Becca and her rebel broadcast called The Untied States of a Mirror.
